JPA Designer is a thermal calculation program for the construction industry which is intended to be used from the design stage through to completion and issue of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for new dwellings. Currently there are four calculation modules available for SAP and U-value.
SAP is the government's Standard Assessment Procedure which is used to assess the energy efficiency of dwellings and their rate of emission of carbon dioxide.
SAP 2010 v.9.81
£350.00 + VAT (includes first year's licence fee)
Annual licence fee: £100.00 + VAT
Assesses the energy performance of dwellings using version 9.81 of SAP. The module:
The results of calculations can be printed out or produced as PDF files for emailing.
SAP 2010 v.9.81 with 3D import
£800.00 + VAT (includes first year's licence fee)
Annual licence fee: £120.00 + VAT
An advanced version of the SAP 2010 v.9.81 module developed to import data from the 3D graphical user interface within IES <VE> software. The module enables users to undertake compliance calculations directly from <VE> models, or to start from Google SketchUp™ or Autodesk® Revit® models.
This module is also available as part of the iSAP 2010 bundle which offers a complete compliance solution for dwellings and non-dwellings.
The Uvalue modules calculate the thermal transmittance of building elements in order to predict the rate of conduction heat loss through the element. The resulting U-values are used in SAP calculations and also for compliance with Building Regulations.
JPA Designer Uvalue modules make calculation straight-forward, with construction elements built-up layer by layer; a process made easier by the comprehensive database of generic and branded materials. The modules also include a 'variable layer' feature which makes it easy to compare the effect of design changes on the thermal performance.
Uvalue Professional 2010
£330.00 + VAT (includes first year's licence fee)
Annual licence fee: £50.00 + VAT
Calculates U-values for:
The module also performs interstitial condensation risk analysis to ISO 13788 and BS 5250:1989. As the software uses the same initial data for U-value and condensation risk calculations it is easy to analyse heat loss and condensation risk for the same element.
Uvalue 2010
£250.00 + VAT (includes first year's licence fee)
Annual licence fee: £50.00 + VAT
Calculates U-values for:
The module can calculate all the U-values required for SAP calculations.
JPA Designer runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7 (excluding 64 bit versions). Users of Intel-based Apple Macintosh computers can run JPA Designer using Bootcamp, Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion (a valid copy of Windows will also be required).
Recent changes in the Windows User Access Control system (UAC) in Windows Vista and Windows 7 may interfere with file saving operations in JPA Designer. Two methods for resolving problems when saving files and lodging EPCs are covered in the Technical note 2009/01. Download it here>.
